Whether you’ve read every installment of Elements of Style, casually skimmed through a couple of them or spoken to me about anything style related then what I’m about to discuss won’t come as any surprise. Great style is truly transformative and there’s so much honor and value in this work that I’ve been called to do. I’ve received some of the most heartfelt feedback over the years from clients about how working with me has literally changed their lives.
Those testimonies reinforce the fact that style runs way deeper than what meets the eye. This is bigger than walking up to a closet and picking out a cute shirt. There is nothing meaningless or vapid about the power of style. I’m not a magician and I have no desire to sell anyone an unattainable dream. I’m simply providing the tools to access a change of perspective that can, in fact, be magically life altering.
Our style habits can be extremely deeply ingrained. Although I provide holistic style coaching to help clients acknowledge certain roadblocks with some of their habits and beliefs, some behaviors may need treatment from a mental health professional. If you can treat yourself to the luxury of partnering with a stylist, then why not consider treating yourself to the most luxurious treatment of all? An hour dedicated to talking about yourself, your desires, gripes and the minutia of your day to day life.
One of my goals is to illuminate the connections between the ways that our minds work and the ways that we dress our bodies. I also want you to get tons of compliments everywhere you go.
With a combination of transparency and genuine enthusiasm, I guide my clients toward freedom from the past, dressing for the present and building a solid wardrobe to support you in the near future. I’m sharing these basic concepts because they’re public domain. I didn’t invent that combination of actions but I’m proud to help people use them to transform the way that they dress themselves. The words are simply spoken but the actions may feel like trying to move mountains. If it were so easy, everyone would look amazing every minute of every day.
Freedom from the past entails releasing yourself from limiting beliefs, rules that no longer apply and moving past traumas that may hinder you from dressing like your truest self. The person who lives inside of you after you peel back all of your protective layers. How would they like to be seen?
Dressing for the present means being sartorially prepared for everything from an erratic weather forecast to your ever-changing lifestyle needs. You’ll feel so much better when you’re appropriately dressed for an occasion- I know I do!
When I speak about building a wardrobe in support of the near future, I mean not only dressing for the life that you have currently but dressing for the life that you fantasize about. Hopefully you’re actively perusing your long and short term goals but don’t forget that some new levels of achievement may lead you to needing a more sophisticated look. Your style choices can be powerful tools for manifestation.
